Devin Helfrich
Legislative Program Assistant, Nuclear Disarmament
Devin joined FCNL in the fall of 2006 and is working with David Culp in the Quaker Nuclear Disarmament Program. Devin graduated in 2001 from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, where he majored in Geology. He was born and raised in Minneapolis, where he attended the Minneapolis Friends Meeting “since birth” and participated in several Quaker camps and service programs over the years. Trained as a geologist, Devin has worked with the Bureau of Land Management in Idaho, and for an environmental consulting group in St. Paul, on assignments ranging from excavation and drilling oversight to analysis of digital spatial data. Devin has traveled to Brazil, Cuba, Spain, and Poland and much of Europe for both education and service.
With his free time, Devin enjoys being outside; a good cathartic camping trip or long hike clears his head and helps him stay focused on what’s meaningful. He can be found doing many things from investigating most any physical activity, to reading a book discussing the discovery of high-energy emissions during the radioactive decay of Thorium.
